The Legend Continues At Harold's!

These photos are thumbnails, when you want a better look at one, just click on it and it will be opened in a new browser window in all its glory.   Just close the window when you've seen enough of it and want to come on back to here.
This was taken about 1935 (we think).   That was when Cave Creek Road was just a dirt track.   Business was mighty slow then, I'll bet....
Here's the "founder" Harold himself (may he rest in peace) posed on the porch of his new saloon (~1935).
This was taken in the late 50's or early 60's (guessing again).   Note that Harold had "added on" some more space.   A new wing!
This is probably in the mid 70's (don't let the old cars fool you).   The sign on the roof has been replaced but the antlers are still there.
This is around the early 80's   The sign had changed to HAROLDS in letters on the front and I think Danny Sr. was thinking about buying it about then.   Looks like the roof needs work (lucky it rarely rains).
HAROLDS 2002 - all spiffed and shined (well, kind of, it's still been around a long time).   Anyway, lots of changes have happened...

Since Harold started the place about 1935, Harold's has always been the center of Cave Creek activity. It has spawned a million crazy stories... from lions and tigers caged in the back to Harold himself along his flamboyant friends, movie stars, (real) cowboys and other colorful characters.

Many celebrities have frequented Harold's. Some to wine and dine on the fine food and some because it was their film location... Warner Bros. filmed Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins starring Mckensie Phillips, Alan Arkin and Sally Kellerman; other films were Electroglide in Blue starring Robert Blake and Jeannie Riley and Little Foss and Big Halsey with Robert Redford. Dick Van Dyke and Hugh Downs frequent Harold's, but then, the locals always know the best spots.

We surely hope you will visit Harold's. And when you do, take a minute to browse through the photographs on the walls of the wonderful characters that frequent Harold's. Hope to see you real soon.
